Why Electrical Testing is Important

Whether talking about a large commercial facility or a typical two storey home, the electrical system should be regularly tested. A major cause of fire is electrical faults, and with regular testing and inspections, you can rest assured that the power system is working as it should.

  • Fuses – These devices prevent power overloads, which can often occur and would damage the system, and the fuses contain a thin strand of wire, which breaks when a certain voltage is reached, thus cutting off the power supply. Most electrical systems ate fitted with a circuit breaker, which automatically shuts off the power, and once the trip is reset, power supply would be normal.
  • Erosion– This is a problem for any electrical system, and part of the testing would involve checking for signs of corrosion, while also looking for chewed wires, which rodents often do. As the system gets older, there is an increased risk of corrosion and erosion, and in some cases, components and stretches of wiring needs replacing.

Commercial electrical systems involve much higher voltage and would be quite complex, which would require regular testing to ensure the system is safe. If your commercial premises hasn’t had an electrical testing scheduled for a while, now is the best time to remedy that, and with a detailed report from a commercial electrician, you can rest assured that your power system is working properly.
